"Displaying a keen penchant for grand rock ‘n’ roll dramatics reminiscent of Jim Steinman’s seminal productions (Meat Loaf, Bonnie Tyler), Charlie Comes First stakes its claims to rock glory on their 1st full-length CD, “Charlie Comes First.” With a studied feel for rock’s capacity as a robust storytelling vehicle, the UK band mixes guitar-laden rock with electronica flourishes and over-the-top, hook-filled choruses in a 10-song collection that’s as memorable as it is immediate. “To Have You I Have to Leave You” opens the CD with a Peter Gabriel-like vibe that bursts open in a chorus that’s danceable & sing-along catchy; “Unknown is Her Name” is a terrific slice of classic 3-chord guitar rock that recalls Prince at his best; & “Patient Patient Love” employs Ray Davies-like theatrics to provocative & winning effect. Elsewhere, the propulsive dance track, “Pray for Me in Jesus’ Name,” shows the band’s dance grooves are as potent as their rock thunder, & “Maria Let Me In” proves they are equally adept with a moving power ballad. With each song its own fertile & well-crafted mini-drama, Charlie Comes First’ terrific CD, a delight on many levels, not least as a straight-up rock manifesto."

"Where rock n' roll meets distorted vocal ascensions you end up with Charlie Comes First. This fusion twist of vocal discrepancy collaborates for a refreshing sound of musical creation. Edgy mixtures of this sound provide a new perspective, creating a new stimulating sound for listeners to hear. The dark ominous tone creep from behind, inevitably allowing you to want more of the warped sound of Charlie Comes First. The driving force of "Story Seller" instantly grabs you by the neck to listen, while surprising enjoying the forceful feel for its ascending progression and catchy melody. The abnormal vocal arrangements bring back memories of the British punk vocal assertion of The Clash. Each instrumental flows in unison with the freight train movement of "Story Seller", seemingly never-ending and internally addicting. The dark truth of possession in love becomes the struggle, where patience becomes the cure in the universal message sung in "Patient, Patient Love." Mervin Scott's versed lyrics, "I recognise the fear so I'm halfway there / I know it's hard but please don't leave me here", brings out the realisation of fear emerging from the feelings of love. Scott's lyrics of a self-revelation truth bring out the most emotive song off Charlie Comes First. "I'm A Loner" begins to grow more as a guide toward sympathy and understanding through a person's experience, rather than a downer tune to sob too. Charlie Comes First brings out the feelings of joy with the counter-balance of a epiphanies to move forward with the wounds of life. Deep depression and a longing heart portrays a work of art of modern day rock n' roll poetry. "Do you care if I live or die / Cause loneliness is a friend of mine" pouring out feelings of a dismantling man only further emphasise hurt at its peak."
